29 DEATHS THIS YEAR IN VARIOUS ACCIDENTS

The latest fatality figures released by the Fire and Rescue Department shows deaths on the roads continue to rise in Brunei, which continues to be a cause for concern.

Car crashes led to 13 deaths in the first 11 months of this year (Jan – Dec 2008), followed by house fire with seven fatalities, four deaths due to drowning and one death when a car caught fire, figures from the Fire and Rescue Department revealed.

Brunei expects WiMax technology next year
THE Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMax) was showcased to the Ministry of Communications yesterday, which was seen as a possible new telecommunication technology that Brunei can expect in the next year.
The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AiTi) provided a demonstration of the technology to the Minister of Communications, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Abu Bakar Hj Apong, along with several officers from the ministry and Aiti officers at the ministry premises and Berakas vicinity.
